The festival is a free, family-friendly event, featuring site-specific digital video artworks projection-mapped onto the 8,640-square-foot façade of historic Hangars 3 & 4 as a celebration of the park’s rich history and vibrant future.

On Saturday, October 3, 2026, Jamaica Bay-Rockaway Parks Conservancy (JBRPC) will partner with the National Park Service for the second biennial Floyd Bennett Field! Public Arts Festival.

Join us for an unforgettable evening of newly-commissioned artworks projection mapped onto the monumental brick-and-glass façade of historic Hangars 3 and 4 at Floyd Bennett Field, NYC’s first municipal airport and today part of Gateway National Recreation Area. As the sun sets, enjoy a playful take on “dinner and a show” — bring your own picnic dinner and set up on the Hangar Lawn, or reserve a seat at The Longest Table, a collective outdoor BYO dinner that turns dining into art and conversation into connection. Then as night falls, projection mapping will enliven the Hangars with color, motion, sound, and storytelling.

  • 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm: Dinner on the Hangar Lawn + The Longest Table
BYO picnic and choose open lawn seating or reserved table seating.
  • 7:30 pm – 9:30 pm: Projection Mapping on Hangars 3 & 4
Please note: The projection experience includes bright, moving lights and rapidly changing imagery that may affect people who are sensitive to flashing or strobing lights.

Rooted in themes of water, nature and innovation, the artworks will explore Floyd Bennett Field’s deep connection to the waterfront, a defining element of the site’s prominence in Jamaica Bay and proximity to the Atlantic Ocean – a stretch of New York City coastline where imagination and innovation have always converged. Artworks will reflect and re-imagine this historic space, transforming architecture and light into a celebration of place and possibility.

Featuring German sound artist and producer She's Excited! (Anne Wichmann) with her immersive performance LUMINESCENCE.

Biography

She’s Excited! is the artist name of the award-winning Indie Pop producer, powerhouse performer and sound artist Anne Wichmann based in Brooklyn and Munich. With an appetite for intelligent and genre-bending music of icons like David Bowie and Laurie Anderson, she listens to music defined by limitless imagination rather than genre. This bleeds into her versatile style of dark yet sparkling Electronic music productions that she often merges with empowering and uplifting words.

Anne also designs and produces interactive immersive showcases that break down the barrier between audience and artists. She is passionate about creating works that are easily accessible: for audiences that are not familiar with new technologies and/or people who cannot afford new electronic devices. Anne aims for her work to be socially relevant by bringing together different communities to reverse polarization and by addressing pressing topics like climate change and immigration.

She’s Excited! is a solo project, yet Anne collaborates with singers, musicians, producers and artists at home and all over the globe.
