1014 is seeking a part-time Facility Manager to oversee operations at its building at 1014 Fifth Avenue in New York, beginning in December 2026, with a phased onboarding period prior to the start date. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience, and is negotiable.

📍 Position Overview

The Facility Manager is responsible for the seamless daily functioning, technical readiness, and overall visitor experience of a 17,000 sq ft cultural and convening space that hosts public programs, fellows, and an active members community.

The role combines elements of facility management, event operations, some hospitality, and light property management, with an emphasis on high-end experience delivery and institutional representation.

To ensure the building operates as a welcoming, technically flawless, and intellectually vibrant environment, enabling high-quality events, fellowship programs, and member engagement.

 

🧩 Key Responsibilities:

 

🏢 Building & Facilities Management

·      Oversee all building operations (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life safety systems)

·      Manage preventive maintenance schedules and vendor contracts

·      Ensure compliance with NYC building codes, fire safety, and accessibility standards

·      Supervise cleaning, security, and front-of-house services

·      Coordinate renovation works and capital improvements when needed

 

🎤 Event & Technical Operations

·      Ensure operational readiness for public events, conferences, salons, and private gatherings

·      Oversee high-end event technology infrastructure (AV systems, hybrid streaming, lighting, staging) when needed

·      Manage technical vendors (sound, video, production, digital platforms)

·      Ensure rapid room turnover, setup and flexible space configurations in collaboration with team

·      Provide on-site operational support during flagship events when needed

 

🤝 Fellows & Members Experience

·      Support daily needs of the building for resident fellows (workspace, logistics, access, amenities)

·      Ensure high-quality guest experience

 

🧠 Required Skills & Experience

·      7–12 years in facilities management, event operations, or cultural institution management

·      Strong understanding of building systems and vendor management

·      Proven ability to manage multi-use, high-traffic (cultural) spaces

·      Experience with AV / hybrid event infrastructure strongly preferred

·      Calm, service-oriented presence in high-pressure environments

·      Excellent organizational and stakeholder management skills

·      Experience with high-end event production or conference environments preferred
